The way we work with children and young people
At Oseq our goals are to create a secure, welcoming, and nurturing environment that offers exceptional accommodation and care for children and young people. We offer a welcoming environment designed to resemble a typical family home, accommodating up to three children or young individuals. The dedicated staff at the home are extensively trained in implementing restorative practice and PACE. Restorative Practice involves addressing conflicts by prioritising the repair of harm that has occurred. It is an approach to conflict resolution that involves all parties involved, fostering a sense of inclusivity and collaboration.
Our staff are sensitive to the challenges faced by children and young people with complex needs, and reduced ability to express themselves or communicate. Staff members act as advocates for young individuals with appropriate permissions, ensuring their concerns are heard. Children and young people are provided with information on how they can express their concerns or complaints using communication methods tailored to their needs, such as communication in print format. Their viewpoints are regularly gathered, especially following incidents. We work towards developing therapeutic attachments.
Clinical Oversight
Our homes follow a therapeutic model which is supported by a clinical psychologist who provides support, guidance and advice to both Children and Young People and the staff team.
This includes, but is not limited to;
Initial assessments as required. Staff consultation and clinical supervision in team meetings. Oversight of our therapeutic care plans and behaviour support documents. Regular observations of both the children’s behaviour and staff practice. Regular therapy sessions for Children and Young People if required.
